Who We Are

We are a thirteen-lawyer law firm dedicated to practicing Immigration law exclusively. Joseph B. De Mott, our founding partner, has been practicing immigration law in San Antonio since 1976. The firm handles all types of Immigration cases including employment based, family based, labor certifications, all non-immigrant visas including E, F, H, L, J, O, and R Visas, outstanding professor/researcher petitions, National Interest Waiver petitions, asylum applications, deportation hearings, bond hearings, citizenship applications. In addition to English, we are fluent in Spanish, and also speak French, German, Korean, and Japanese.

Joseph De Mott

Founding Partner

Joe obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and his law degree from the University of Nebraska. He was licensed to practice law on January 5, 1976, and was certified as a Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in December 1981. Joe is the founding partner of the law firm. Over his career Joe has helped many thousands of immigrants with all aspects of Immigration Law including deportation hearings, employment and family based immigrant visas and non-immigrant visas, citizenship, asylum, labor certifications, bonds, paroles, removal of conditions, etc., etc.

Ruth Lozano McChesney

Managing Partner

Ruth Lozano McChesney, born in Mexico, immigrated to the United States as a child when her father took a position as a medical doctor with a Texas hospital. She was raised in a Spanish speaking home and has resided in San Antonio since 1994. She has practiced with the firm since 1998 and has managed it since 2000.

Lance Curtright

Partner and Lead Attorney in Litigation

Lance Curtright, a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, has practiced immigration law since 2001. He is Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Mr. Curtright has successfully represented hundreds of clients in deportation proceedings. His successes include the published decision Matter of Lamus, 25 I&N Dec. 61 (BIA 2009) (Immigration Judge may not deny a motion to reopen based solely upon the government's opposition). He has written articles about the applicability of the unlawful presence bar to immigrating to the United States and has spoke about immigration law related issues at immigration law conferences.

David Antón Armendáriz

Partner

David is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University) and he holds a Juris Doctorate from The University of Texas School of Law. Prior to joining DMCA, he litigated federal civil rights cases with The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights under Law of Texas. He was also an attorney at Balber Pickard Battistoni Maldonado & Van Der Tuin, PC, in New York, New York and he clerked for the Hon. William J. Cornelius, Chief Justice for The Texas Sixth Court of Appeals. While at The Lawyers' Committee, he was co-counsel on Martinez-Aguero v.

Scott Benson

Associate Attorney

Scott Benson, a native of Utah, began work in the field of immigration law in 2001 as an attorney for a non-profit organization in Salt Lake City, where he represented many immigrants and refugees before federal agencies and the immigration court system. Many of these persons also had needs above and beyond immigration, and Scott represented them before state courts and administrative courts in matters ranging from guardianship to criminal defense to public benefits adjudication.

Marisol L. Pérez

Associate Attorney

Marisol L. Pérez is a native of San Angelo, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Texas-San Antonio and her law degree from St. Mary’s School of Law, where she received the Richard Green Spirit of Social Justice Award in recognition of her clinical work on behalf of low-income people in San Antonio and South Texas.

Alex Garcia

Associate Attorney

Alex is from San Antonio, Texas. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a minor in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Texas and has been part of the firm since 2009. Alex became interested in immigration issues while he studied at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Prior to joining DMCA, Alex clerked for the Honorable Judge Bruce Black in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico.

Faye Kolly

Faye M. Kolly, a native Texan is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Saint Louis University School of Law. Faye is well rounded in several areas of immigration law and is dedicated to providing comprehensive short and long-term immigration legal strategies.

Robert A. Jimenez

Associate Attorney

Attorney Robert A. Jimenez practices in the area of criminal law, and has represented clients in a broad array of both felony and misdemeanor cases. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Robert was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2008. He was a solo practitioner until joining the firm in 2011. Robert is dedicated to helping clients at each stage of their case, from pre-trial hearings all the way through trial.

Anne Ohlrich

Associate Attorney

Anne has been a professor at St. Mary's University since August 2005 where she has brought her practical knowledge to the curriculum of the Graduate Dept. of International Relations as well as the Undergraduate IR Dept. and the School of Law. During her tenure she created the student group the Organization for Conflict Diplomacy, founded and directed the Institute for Diplomacy and Strategic Initiatives, and created the Security and Intelligence Program. Anne has developed and taught courses in Diplomacy, The Global War on Terror, Human Trafficking, the Globalization of Crime and Transnational Criminal Organizations, and was commended for her work in September 2011 by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence Centers for Academic Excellence. During this time Anne also founded a local law firm’s Immigration section and focused on H, L, E and TN visas as well as assisting in the creation of two regional centers in Texas

Monica N. Saenz

Monica obtained her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2008. While there she was an Octa-finalist in the Jenkens & Gilchrist Annual First-Year Moot Court Competition, and Executive Articles Editor (2007–2008) and Staff Writer (2006-2007) for The Scholar (St. Mary’s Law Review on Minority Issues). She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Major: English; Minor: Spanish) from Southern Methodist University in 2005.

Nicholas D Gordon

Nicholas D. Gordon, a native of Utah, comes to DMCA after practicing immigration law for a couple of years in the Washington, D.C. metro area. After living in Guatemala from 2001 to 2003, he graduated summa cum laude from Utah State University in 2005 (Major: Political Science; Minor: Spanish) where he was also recognized as the Valedictorian of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. While in law school at George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia, Nicholas interned at the U.S.
